Growing conscious leadership globally

Indira Kennedy, founder and director of Australia-based Conscious Leadership Australia™, works with organisational leaders to achieve a higher level of visionary leadership that takes a long-term view to create fulfilment for those dedicated to their organisation’s brand and bringing others with them.

Indira has been expanding Conscious Leadership internationally and in December 2014 called on Anna Ridgway from InterMondo to assist her to refine the cultural nuances in her first leadership presentation in Malaysia. With experience in Europe, Indira knew it was important to anticipate cultural barriers to quickly create rapport and trust so participants could take advantage of what Indira had to offer.

Indira and Anna spent two sessions addressing Indira’s concerns about equality and difference, languaging issues, separating out individual difference from cultural norms, levels of comfort speaking up and group think. Anna shared deep responses and the session elicited very rich interactions.

On her return from Kuala Lumpur after giving the keynote presentation at a national business conference, Indira and Anna used a blog Indira had written as the basis of their debrief. Anna drew out points Indira had written in ways that identified greater cultural significance than Indira might have imagined, showing that Indira’s own sensitivities were in fact on track and highly developed.

The sessions created a far stronger platform for Indira to stand on in future presentations globally.
